county located in the
U.S. state of
Oklahoma. As of 2000, the population was 33,194. Its
county seat is
Miami.

U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,255
km² (485
mi²). 1,221 km² (471 mi²) of it's land and 35 km² (13 mi²) of it (2.77%) is water.

population density was 27/km² (70/mi²). There were 14,842 housing units at an average density of 12/km² (32/mi²). The racial makeup of the county was 74.15%

The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 2.98.
In the county, the population was spread out with 25.70% under the age of 18, 9.70% from 18 to 24, 24.80% from 25 to 44, 22.90% from 45 to 64, and 16.90% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 94.30 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.10 males.
The median income for a household in the county was $27,507, and the median income for a family was $32,368. Males had a median income of $25,725 versus $18,879 for females. The
per capita income for the county was $14,478. About 13.00% of families and 16.60% of the population were below the
poverty line, including 23.80% of those under age 18 and 12.20% of those age 65 or over.
